Explore the 2025 RAM 2500 price, technology, towing capacity, and more in this overview from the team at Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM!
Broadly, the 2025 model year refresh includes powertrain changes, exterior styling updates, and upgraded technology and safety options. Let’s begin with what is arguably the most significant update, that is, changes to the 2025 RAM 2500 powertrain.
There are two engines available in 2025: the 6.7L Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine and the ever-reliable 6.4L HEMI® V8. Until the current model year, the former was only available in the RAM 3500 heavy-duty series, so its widened application is sure to be a hit with Jacksonville drivers. Check out their specifications below:
With the updated 6.7L Cummins diesel engine, the 2025 RAM 2500 towing capacity is rated at 36,610 pounds. While tremendous, this is a slight decrease from 2024, when the RAM 2500 towing capacity maxed out at 37,090 pounds. Similarly, the maximum payload capacity dropped from 7,680 pounds in 2024 to 7,590 pounds in 2025. These slight dips in capacity are due to a tradeoff between power and efficiency, as the 2025 RAM 2500 also received a new TorqueFlite HD 8-speed automatic transmission and a 3.42 rear-axle ratio.
The OEM claims that these changes will enable “lower cruise engine rpm and improved performance on graded roads,” suggesting improved fuel efficiency. That said, the EPA has yet to release updated fuel economy estimates, so we’ll have to wait and see if the tradeoff for the RAM 2500 towing capacity is worth it (though we suspect that it will be!).
The RAM 2500 enters 2025 with a thoroughly modernized exterior, with different trims receiving uniquely designed and updated grilles and new wheel options that cater to a wide range of personal aesthetics. LED headlamps and incandescent taillights are standard, and premium versions of both are available.
An improved Uconnect® system lies at the heart of the RAM 2500 technology updates. The cabin now features a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and a segment-first 10.25-inch passenger screen. The passenger screen is only visible to the front passenger and features an HDMI plug that they can use to connect their device to the screen directly. Finally, the 2025 RAM 2500 comes with some updated safety features, which we’ve listed below:
