The 2018 Honda Odyssey has had plenty of time to react to the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica entering the marketplace, and yet the Pacifica is still the better choice for our Daytona Beach families. Cars.com did an extensive review and found the Pacifica to lead in key areas:

  • Front Seat Comfort
  • Third-row Comfort
  • Interior Versatility
  • Multimedia and Technology
  • Ride, Handling, and Acceleration

We dug a bit deeper to show you why we think the Pacifica is the better minivan for drivers from Port Orange to Ormond.

Chrysler Gives Drivers More of What They Need

When we asked our drivers what they needed in a minivan, they gave us a list that many of you can probably relate to: an efficient engine, space for the kids and their things, modern connectivity features, and a car that cleans itself. The Pacifica interior delivers all of that and more.

  • Fuel Economy: The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has best-in-class fuel economy at 28 highway mpg. That beats the Kia Sedona, Toyota Sienna, and yes, the Honda Odyssey.
  • Interior Space: With 243 different seating configurations, the Pacifica is ready for passengers or cargo, however you need. Stow ‘n Go Seating is a Chrysler-exclusive feature you won’t find on the Odyssey.
  • Vacuum Cleaner: It might not clean itself, but the Chrysler Pacifica gives drivers access to a built-in vacuum cleaner, and it’s the most powerful vacuum in its class, with the Odyssey leaving cereal and crackers behind.

Pacifica: A New Benchmark for Modern Features

Staying connected is a top priority for a modern driver, and the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica standard and available features simply offer more than the 2018 Honda Odyssey, including

  • MOPAR Wi-Fi
  • Wireless Charging
  • KeySense Smart Keys
  • Alpine Sound System

While Honda might match standards like Bluetooth for connectivity, it falls behind if drivers want anything more than the bare minimum.

The Pacifica Gets You There on Time

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica isn’t a muscle car, and it won’t be going head-to-head with the Dodge Charger any time soon. But acceleration matters, especially when merging onto the highway for a holiday at the grandparents’ house or are making up for lost time in the morning. Here’s what Cars.com had to say about the Pacifica, the Odyssey, and acceleration:

The Pacifica pulled far ahead in [acceleration]. It’s responsive from a stop with quick, ample low-end pep. The Odyssey’s V6 feels strong, but seriously bad kickdown lag is a problem: Floor the gas pedal at highway speeds and the transmission waits a couple of seconds before doing anything. Kickdowns from the Pacifica’s nine-speed automatic transmission are more predictable — and thankfully less eventful.
